High School Students from Fukui Global Circle Join Summer Festival Event Hosted by Student Coordinators

On Friday, July 4, a Summer Festival event organized by the Student Coordinators (SC) of University of Fukui was held at UF Student Central on the Bunkyo Campus. The event brought together Japanese students, international students, and high school students from Fukui Prefecture.

The participating high school students were members of the Fukui Global Circle (FGC), a cross-school international student circle newly launched this year by the Fukui Prefectural Board of Education. The initiative aims to foster young people who will either “reach out to the world from Fukui” or “bring the world to Fukui,” by providing opportunities for students from different schools to gather and learn together.

A total of 19 high school students from five schools in Fukui Prefecture took part in the event. Activities were themed around Tanabata and traditional summer festivals. Participants wrote wishes on Tanzaku strips, played festival-style games, and enjoyed interacting in both Japanese and English.

High school participants shared positive feedback, saying, “It was fun to talk with university students and international students,” and “It was refreshing to visit the University of Fukui, a place I had never entered before.”

Following this successful event, FGC high school students are scheduled to participate in three more events at the University of Fukui later this academic year.
