University of Fukui Students Participate in Katsuyama English Summer Camp
From August 27 (Wednesday) to August 29 (Friday), a three-day English Summer Camp, hosted by Katsuyama City, was held at the Education Hall of Katsuyama.
This event targeted elementary school students residing in the city, with 17 children participating. Volunteer international students and Japanese students from University of Fukui were involved from the planning stages and served as on-site staff for three days, alongside Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) and Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) from Fukui Prefecture.

On the first day, participants interacted through traditional Japanese games, incorporating some Japanese language. On the second day, students visited Heisenji Hakusan Shrine and Yumeore Katsuyama in groups, explaining various aspects to the staff in both English and Japanese. On the final day, the children interviewed the staff in English, summarized the content, and gave presentations.
The participating children actively engaged in the activities, even though they sometimes struggled with English pronunciation and vocabulary.

University of Fukui plans to continue developing activities in collaboration with the local community in the future.
