【International Exchange】Chennai Institute of Technology Visits University of Fukui for Academic Exchange and Corporate Tour
On Thursday, May 21, 2026, the University of Fukui welcomed a delegation of 25 first-year engineering students and one faculty chaperone from the Chennai Institute of Technology (CIT), one of our university’s first academic exchange partners in India.
Visiting under the theme “A Journey of Learning and Discovery,” the delegation spent the morning touring engineering laboratories on campus and in the afternoon, the delegation visited Nicca Chemical Co., Ltd. The students and faculty provided highly positive feedback, sharing that they learned a great deal about Japanese national universities and advanced technologies, and that their stay in Fukui was incredibly meaningful. This visit marks the first official delegation from CIT since the signing of our academic exchange agreement, and we look forward to further deepening the relationship between our two institutions in the future.
Program at the University of Fukui
The morning session began with a warm welcome speech by Prof. NAGAI Takahiro, Vice President for International Affairs and Global Strategy and Director of the Institute for Global Engagement (IGE). This was followed by an overview of the University of Fukui presented by Prof. SHIMADA Kazuhisa, Deputy Director of the IGE. Next, Prof. NAGAI Niro, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, introduced the school’s educational system and research structure. The delegation then embarked on a laboratory tour tailored to the students’ academic majors, visiting four specialized labs:
- Information Technology: Guided by Lecturer Chunzhi Gu
- Intelligent & Mechanical Engineering: Guided by Lecturer Satoki Tsuichihara
- Electrical Engineering: Guided by Lecturer Ryuto Shigenobu
- Biomedical Engineering: Guided by Professor Masaya Oki




Corporate Tour at Nicca Chemical
In the afternoon, the delegation visited Nicca Chemical Co., Ltd. (located in Fukui City), an active member of the Fukui Alliance*.
During the visit, the students received a presentation on the company’s corporate profile and innovative technology development, followed by a tour of their state-of-the-art headquarters. Additionally, a department manager who had recently returned from an assignment in India shared insights into the company’s ongoing “India Strategy.” The session concluded with a lively Q&A period where students eagerly asked numerous questions. The students expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to see Nicca Chemical’s impressive research and production facilities, as well as for the warm hospitality they received. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Nicca Chemical. for graciously hosting our guests and providing such a valuable experience.
