University of Fukui Students Participate in Katsuyama Global Camp

On Thursday, August 6 and Friday, August 7, Katsuyama Global Camp, organized by Katsuyama City, was held at the Education Hall of Katsuyama. The event welcomed 12 local elementary school students. Student volunteers from the University of Fukui—including both international and Japanese students—collaborated with local staff, working alongside Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) and Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) in the prefecture to run the event on-site.

On the first day, participants bonded through activities conducted in English and enjoyed presentations about the home countries of international students and ALTs. On the second day, the group visited Katsuyama Dinosaur Park (Nagaoyama Park), where they took part in an English treasure hunt and baked pancakes by following recipes written in English. Although the children initially found the English text challenging, they actively participated and enjoyed interacting with the staff throughout the activities.

The University of Fukui will continue to collaborate with the local community through various initiatives moving forward.
